Super Deluxe Kodiak Canvas Tent 6041VX 10x14 (with tarp 6043)

Kodiak Canvas introduces its new Super Deluxe VX series of Flex-bow tents. We have taken our deluxe versions and replaced the vents with huge windows (everything else is the same). Windows on all four sides allows you to really open the tent up providing amazing openness. You get superb ventilation and improved temperature management. In daytime or hot conditions, zip the windows down and let the fresh air circulate. At night or when the temperature drops, zip up the windows partially or all the way. Available in 10x10 and 10x14 sizes.

Whether you’re headed to the campground with your family, or elk camp with your hunting buddies, this rugged, all-season tent is well suited for the occasion. Made with premium grade, Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make the canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess. Go ahead and touch the inside walls during a downpour as this canvas will not wick water. The Kodiak flex bow vx tent frame has tempered, spring steel rods that keep the tent taut, and robust 1-inch steel tube poles that will hold up to fierce winds.

The floor is a seamless, heavy-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl that keeps water out. Easy, one-person setup takes only a few minutes after you have it staked out. The steep walls and 6’6” high ceiling provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. Large front and back doors with top rated #10 YKK zippers give convenient access. Six large windows provide openness and superb ventilation. Windows have no-see-um screen mesh, keeping out the smallest bugs.

A customizable gear loft and organizer system offer plenty of places to stow gear. A large awning provides shade and a covered entry. The handy strap-and-cinch storage bag means no cramming a tent into an undersized bag. Hefty 12-inch steel stakes included.

Helpful info for when you receive your tent:

"Season" the tent before using on an actual camping trip. Seasoning the tent is a process by which you set up the tent completely, lightly wet down the tent with a light water spray, and then let the tent dry completely. The seasoning process will shrink the canvas material around the stitches that were made during the manfuacturing process and is what makes the tent water tight.

Set-up with one person?

Yes, you read that correctly. The flex-bow design from Kodiak allows the tent to be easily set up and taken down typically needing no more than 1 person to do so.

Is there a trick to setting up the tent quickly?

Not really. Understanding how the flex-bow design for the Kodiak tent works will help you with the set up though. The flew-bow name cames from the flexing rods that are at either end of the non-entry sides of the tent on the roof. These rods bend into place when you set up the roof poles. You will notice that when you start to prop up your tent after assembling the roof poles that the tent will pull heavily against the stakes in the corners and side of the tent. This illustrates the importance of good staking. When staking the tent, make sure the tent is tight and the stakes are secure in the ground. With the stakes in the ground correctly, the tent will prop up like magic, typically needing only around 5 minutes from start to finish.

Awesome tent!
This tent is awesome! At first the price was a little higher than I wanted to pay, however the quality of the tent and ease of use makes it worth every penny. Used it the first week it was purchased and couldn''t be more pleased. I am looking forward to many hunting/camping trips to in the near future.

Falling in love with Kodiak again
I have owned the 10x10 6010 model tent for 6 years and have loved it every time I use it. When I saw the VX model tents with the side screens, I was jumping for joy. Also, something I did not notice till I was setting this tent up, is the VX models added screens on the doors! I upgraded to the 10x14 since we needed more space for a baby. This tent is amazing! I do not want to sleep in my house tonight! The ground tarp that comes with the tent is perfect. Exactly the same size as the tent with corner loops to stake it down with the corners of the tent. Excellent product at an amazing price! Very happy customer

Excellent, large, warm, quiet tent
Only set this up in the backyard so far, and spent one night in it. Instructions are lacking in the clarity department, but after figuring it out this tent is quite easy for one person (me) to setup in 15 minutes or so, impressive given its size I think. Its not self standing which is a pity, but the ground stakes and large and of high quality and hold the tent in place well. Really impressed with the internal comfort. Canvas absorbs wind noise nicely. Canvas also insulates well and with my Mr. Heater Big Buddy, I can take the temperature from 40F outside to 70F inside the tent despite the ventilation needed due to burning propane ... nice! Extra two large windows on this new upgraded model are fantastic and definitely worth the extra $$$, IMHO. Doubles the ventilation, which is needed since wind doesn''t blow easily through the noseeum window screens. First pass, I''m extremely impressed with practicality and quality of this tent, and highly recommend it.

Great Tent
I am absolutely pleased with this tent. I set it up in the yard a couple of days ago and that night it began to rain and it continued to rain, heavily at times, for the next 12 hours. I was kind of nervous about my new purchase getting tested so well the first time I put it up, but every time I went out there and opened it up, it was dry inside. I will say that there ended up being about a teaspoon of water on the floor of the tent after the 12 hour rain, but according to the manual this is to be expected prior to the fabric drying and tightening. It was so little water that I fully expect this to be the end of it. Inside the tent I have a double-sized cot for my wife and I and two normal-sized cots for my kids. That really does fill up the space, but it ends up feeling downright luxurious being surrounded by all of the screens and the soft and quiet canvas. Again, I couldn''t be more pleased.

Q: I recently purchased your Flex Bow. Love it. But I'm wondering - do you have a recommendation for how to pitch the awning in such a way that it sheds water instead of pooling?
Asked by: Camper - 7/16/2015
A: The more you use the tent, the easier this is to do. When I put up my tent I simply create a little droop on the side of the awning to manage where the water drips. If your awning is pooling in the middle simply take one rope and stake it again at a different angle. Careful though! It could splash mud up on the tent if you are camping in an area without a lot of vegetation. Sometimes when it rains I simply let the awning down altogether and rest against the tent - leaving the stakes as they were so I can quickly put it back up when the rain stops.

Q: How many people does this tent fit comfortably??
Asked by: Maddie - 7/15/2015
A: I am sure you can fit more than 8 if everyone was smaller and not taking up much space in sleeping. The opposite would also be true. If people were occupying a lot of space, you would not be able to fit 8 people. A better way to possibly get at an answer to this question is to look at the square footage and layout of the tent and map out where each person would be sleeping and how much space they would be occupying. That will give you an idea of the occupancy you would be able to reach.

Q: Is there any provision for running an electrical cord into the tent or would you have to just run it through one of the door openings?
Asked by: Walleye - 3/8/2016
A: The only tent that has an opening specifically designed for an extension cord is the cabin style 6133 12 x 9. However, you can simply run an extension cord through any of the door openings as they have flaps that cover the zippers to keep out water.

Q: Does the front door (on the awning side) have a canvas door (besides the awning)? Or is the door just the screen/mesh (and then the awning forms the door).
