Kodiak Canvas 6014 8 Person Deluxe Tent

This Kodiak Canvas 10 x 14 tent is great whether you're headed to the campground with your family, or elk camp with your hunting buddies. This rugged, all-season tent is well suited for any occasion. Made with premium grade, Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas (walls: 8.5 oz , roof: 10 oz). The tight weave and silicone finish make the canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess. Go ahead and touch the inside walls during a downpour - this canvas will not wick water. This particular model sells out before all the other canvas tents we carry. The Flex-Bow frame has tempered, spring steel rods that keep the tent taut, and robust steel tube poles that will hold up to fierce winds. The floor material is a super-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl with welded seams that keeps water out. Easy, one-person set-up takes only a few minutes after you have it staked out. The steep walls and high ceiling provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. Two large doors with top rated #10 YKK zippers give convenient access to front and back. Four windows, and two vents allow ample air-flow. Windows and vents have no-see-um screen mesh, keeping out the smallest pests. A customizable gear loft, and organizer system offer plenty of places to stow gear. A large awning provides shade and a covered entry. The handy strap-and-cinch storage bag means no cramming into an undersized bag. Hefty 12 inch steel stakes included. Note: If you are ordering the vestibule wing option that goes with this tent, you must purchase a grommet kit and add your own extra grommets if you want the awning to overlap with the vestibule.

Kodiak Canvas on Competitive Edge
This is more a review of Competitive Edge than Kodiak Canvas. I was exceptionally pleased with the Price, the product description, the web site and the amazing speed of delivery on this product. I set up my new Kodiak Canvas 10 x 14 tent for the first time in about 20 minutes by myself, and I think it will be much quicker the next time. The quality of materials is evident from heavy tent poles, to the canvas material of the tent, even the zippers are easy to use. I would highly recommend Competitive Edge and Kodiak Canvas.

Solid tent
Great tent. Plenty of room for a 5 folding table inside along with a queen air bed and gear. Took it up to he rim in January the weekend it showed up. It was COLD. Had the big buddy heater and made our AM coffee in the tent on the table. I would only recommend a small fan to push the heat back down/circulate in the tent. Was cold on the bed but crazy hot when you stood up because the heat was trapped in the top half of the tent. No leaks, easy set up, tough floor. One of the few larger purchases I have made this year without regret as I am sure I will get years of enjoyment out of this thing.

Fantastic Customer Service
Accidentally ordered this tent because model''s were very similar (my bad). Had to return/exchange for correct tent. Correct tent is outstanding as I''m sure this one is since they are very similar, but that''s not my point. Purpose of this review is to say customer service through this experience was fantastic even though the mistake was 100% on my end, and I have already ordered more items from Competitive Edge Products since they treated me so well. Thank you!

Kodiak 6014
This tent is a quality product. Very heavy duty yet easy to set up. Top notch materials. Workmanship seems excellent. Only used it once in the backyard so far but very impressed. Easily fit me, my wife, and our 3 kids (5,4, and 2 years old) with a ton of room to spare. take down and storage was a breeze considering the size of this beast. I cant say enough good things about this tent or Competitive Edge. Excellent costumer service, communication and pricing. I''m very impressed and happy.

Very Pleased with service and product
I ordered and product arrived two days later at my door step. The Service Department was quick ,professional and seamless. The follow-up E-mail tracking number and order invoice arrived within an hour. I set the 6014 (10 x14) tent up in the yard by myself. I then sprayed it with a hose as recommended to "season"; the material. The water beaded and there was not evidence of any leaks. The wind came up that night at about 20 mph gusts and the tent did not seem to flinch except for the awning. A center grommet between the front support posts to tie down would correct that issue and help the water shed away from the tent. I have owned many tents over the years, from backpackers to Cabelas guide tents. I look forward to the room and comfort that this walled tent will give my on my week elk hunt in Northern NM next week. My aging and stiff bones at the end of the day makes sleeping on cots more needed. This tent will easily support two cots, a card table, guitar playing with room to dance. JIM (Updated on 10/9/2013.)

Q: Why is this tent more expensive than the basic version?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: This model is more expensive than the basic version for several reasons. It includes four windows instead of two, it has airflow events instead of none, it has extra gear pockets and a gear loft, and it has a nicer cinch and strap carrying bag. The weight of the canvas on the roof, walls, and the polyvinyl floor are identical. The poles that are included are also identical between the two tents. It basically boils down to more ventilation.

Q: Do more people buy this size or the smaller 10' x 10' size?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: In the past many people have purchased the 10' x 10' tent. That is still probably the most common size you might see in campgrounds. However, with the introduction of the 10' x 14' flexbow tent model 6043, 6014, and 6044 we find that customers generally prefer to go with bigger tents. There is always the concern that you might not find a campground that allows the footprint of 10' x 14'. You might want to measure out 10' x 10' in your yard to get an idea of how big of a tent you desire.

Q: I'm looking at this model versus the 10' x 10' size. Do the walls have a steeper slope on this compared to the smaller one? I can't tell by looking at the picture.
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: The walls are a little bit steeper on the 10' x 10' tent than the 10' x 14' tent, but not enough to be concerned about. The roof is not the same between the two-it is larger on the 10' x 14' tent so that it minimizes the difference in slope. The slope does not change the sleeping capacity of eight people versus six people.

Q: Do I have to worry about mildew with this tent?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: Yes, you have to be concerned with mildew or mold on any canvas tent. You don't need to be "concerned" per se, but you do need to be aware that rolling the tent up went moist and storing it in that condition will eventually lead to mildew and mold which will affect the performance, the smell, and the look of the tent. Make sure that you never roll this up wet. If it rains make sure that you dry it out immediately when you get home. This tent will last for decades it is taken care of properly.

Q: Is the door on the left or the right side? I assume that it unzips to be a window as well?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: If you are facing the tent the doors on the right side and the window is on the left side. If you were to flip the tent 180° it would look practically identical with the door on the right side and the window on the left side. Yes, the doors on this particular model 6014 also have screens built into them so you can open them up and function as a window.

Q: Can I fit more than 8 people into this tent if two of us share a sleeping bag?
Asked by: Maddie - 7/15/2015
A: I am sure you can fit more than 8 if everyone was smaller and not taking up much space in sleeping. The opposite would also be true. If people were occupying a lot of space, you would not be able to fit 8 people. A better way to possibly get at an answer to this question is to look at the square footage and layout of the tent and map out where each person would be sleeping and how much space they would be occupying. That will give you an idea of the occupancy you would be able to reach.

Q: How many people can I cram inside this? I noticed that a lot of advertisements are inaccurate when it comes to tents and how many people you can realistically fit inside.
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: This is a very large tent and depending on the amount of gear you bring you it can comfortably hold eight or it can comfortably hold four. For example, if you have four people and all of them have extra large cots, then you might think that there is not room for four more people. You would probably be right. However, this is our best-selling tent for the Boy Scouts of America. In those cases they can actually cram 10 people in their comfortably depending on the age. So, what we recommend is measuring out 10' x 14' in your yard somewhere to get an idea of how many sleeping bags, mattresses, cots or sleeping pads you could fit comfortably.

Q: How does the warranty process work if something is wrong with the tent?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: If something is wrong with the tent either due to damage or a manufacturer's defect simply give us a call and we will walk you through the process. The process basically involves taking several photographs of the defect and emailing it along with a copy of your receipt. As long as the manufacturer determines that it was indeed damaged or defective they will have the item replaced or repaired (your choice) at their expense.

Q: When I go camping I bring cots with me. I'm worried that I won't be able to fit very many in if I can't put it right next to the wall. How many could I fit?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: You can most definitely fit extra extra-large cots inside this tent. The number of cots depends on the size of the cot. It might be a good idea to take a measuring tape and measure out on your lawn 10' x 14' so you can get an idea of how many cots and how much gear you can store inside the tent. You can put the cots right up against the wall since these tents do not allow water to seep through when other material is touching the wall.

Q: If I am getting rained on and my equipment is touching the walls will it start to seep through and get me wet?
Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: One of the greatest selling points about these canvas tents is that they do not "wick"-meaning that if you have an item touching the tent wall while it is raining it will not get the item inside the tent wet.

Q: I've seen guys have stove jacks installed in your tents but there is nobody near me that offers this service. Is there a reason that your tents don't come with this as an option? Is it possible to have one installed prior to delivery?
Asked by: JT morgan - 9/14/2016
A: Unfortunately, neither we nor the manufacturer recommend it for liability purposes. I'm sorry for the bad news.
